BOMA (Building Owners & Managers Association) Adopt-A-Block

The BOMA Community Service committee recently had an Adopt-A-Block event on April 10, 2010. Candace traded her suit & heels for jeans & sneakers and headed to South Dallas for a day of home improvement.

The BOMA CSC semi-annual Adopt-A-Block helps local individuals on fixed incomes in desperate need of home repairs. Volunteers provide basic repairs, landscaping, painting, and good ol’ TLC to make the house a “home” once again.

When the committee met to plan for the event, George Smith asked for someone to coordinate feeding lunch to the volunteers. Without hesitation, Candace said, “Sounds like you need a concierge!” Considering it was her first BOMA CSC meeting, Candace found her niche. Corner Bakery partnered with BOMA CSC and provided lunch for over 50 volunteers that day. Concierge Connection provided beverages. It was an amazing day of service, gratitude, and teamwork. Many thanks to Courtney Smith with Corner Bakery.
