The Dallas Museum of Art is hosting a Free Community Day event called Afro-Atlantic Histories, which will be presented by Arthur Primas this weekend. The event is scheduled for Sunday, January 14, from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Admission to the DMA’s special exhibition, Afro-Atlantic Histories, will be FREE for all visitors on Sunday, January 14. So, bring your family and friends to explore the diverse visual cultures that retell the many stories of the Afro-Atlantic. You can also explore all of the museum’s exhibitions on this day.

The Afro-Atlantic Histories exhibition is co-organized by the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and the Museu de Arte de São Paulo, in collaboration with the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.
The exhibition was curated by the Museu de Arte de São Paulo by Adriano Pedrosa, Artistic Director; Ayrson Heráclito, Curator; Hélio Menezes, Curator; Lilia Moritz Schwarcz, Adjunct-curator of Histories; and Tomás Toledo. The Dallas Museum of Art coordinating curators are Katherine Brodbeck, the Hoffman Family Senior Curator of Contemporary Art, and Ade Omotosho, The Nancy and Tim Hanley Assistant Curator of Contemporary Art.

March 2 – Selected Shorts: While You Were Sleeping hosted by Meg Wolitzer: Be there when the popular podcasts comes to the Dallas Museum of Art with hilarious and captivating stories exploring all things nighttime: sleep, dreams, and what happens after the lights go out. (in partnership with KERA)
March 7 – Xochitl Gonzalez in conversation with Claudia Vega: The cultural critic, producer, screenwriter, and author of the book “Olga Dies Dreaming”. The book has been named one of the Best Books of 2022 by the New York Times, Time, and the Washington Post, among others. It has also won the Brooklyn Public Library Book Prize in Fiction and the New York City Book Awards.
March 26 – Tommy Orange in conversation with Albert Old Crow.: KNON’s Beyond Bows and Arrows: Wandering Stars is the highly anticipated sequel to Tommy Orange’s There There, which was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. The book won the PEN/Hemingway Award and was named one of the New York Times’s Ten Best Books of the Year.
