Texas Ballet Theater’s The Nutcracker

Texas Ballet Theater’s production of The Nutcracker returns this season with performances in both Dallas and Fort Worth. The Dallas run takes place November 28–December 7, 2025, at the Winspear Opera House. Performances in Fort Worth run from December 12–28 at Bass Performance Hall.

With sweeping choreography by Ben Stevenson, O.B.E., Tchaikovsky’s timeless score, lavish costumes, and a large cast that blends professional dancers with nearly 200 students from the region.

For families and first-time balletgoers, TBT’s “Kingdom of Sweets” pre-show adds extra enchantment. On matinee days, children can meet a ballerina, hold a pointe shoe, explore costumes up close, and learn a bit about life behind the curtain.

If you enjoy themed fun, attend one of the “Ugly Sweater Nights” on Thursday, December 4 in Dallas or Thursday, December 18 in Fort Worth. Show up in your most festive attire, check in at the lobby reception booth between 6 and 7 p.m., and you might win tickets to TBT’s May performance of Swan Lake.

Sugar Plum Fairy Tea 2025

Other Nutcracker Ballets Around DFW

If you want a different version of The Nutcracker, there are other options in North Texas.

  • Ballet North Texas  presents The Nutcracker December 19–21, 2025, at Moody Performance Hall in Dallas. Their season includes a sensory-friendly matinee, which is worth noting  if you prefer a gentler performance environment.
  • World Ballet Company brings its Nutcracker to the Majestic Theatre in downtown Dallas on December 17 and 18, 2025, with an additional show at the Irving Arts Center on December 16. This version delivers a Broadway-style flair and runs around 100 minutes, including intermission.
  • For a lighter alternative, Avant Chamber Ballet presents “Nutcracker with Live Orchestra” December 5–7 at Moody Performance Hall. Their “Short & Suite” version offers a condensed one-hour take on the story for families or anyone with limited time. (Avant Chamber Ballet)

Tickets for the Nutcracker generally sell out, especially for matinees and evening performances. Order your tickets online.

This holiday season, the sparkle of holiday lights meets the twirl of tutus. Whether you go for the classic grandeur of TBT’s Nutcracker, a more condensed ballet evening, or a sensory-friendly matinee, DFW offers multiple chances to experience the magic of ballet.

So, leave your office behind and make a holiday memory that lasts long past the last snowfall.
